About Me
“Whether I succeed or fail, I learn” – Carl Rogers
Hello, I’m Rita and I’m a qualified psychotherapist who has worked with hundreds of people like you. My aim is to help you overcome the obstacles that are holding you back and to assist you to more skilfully manage your life.
In my own life challenges, there have been different times when I haven’t taken care of myself in relationships and have felt alone, and didn’t know how to have my needs met . I’ve experienced the difference between having and not having the right kind of support. I learned that having the support of the right therapist was transformative and it was this that led me on my journey to becoming a therapist myself.
The experience of working through many of my own internal and external challenges informs how I live and how I work as a counsellor now.
I believe that we all fundamentally know what we need, but when we’re busy striving or are caught up in getting things done we don’t always listen to or hear it. We tell ourselves we ‘should’ be able to manage our feelings and there’s something wrong with us if we can’t.
I help people connect with their strengths. I’m less about diagnosis and more about resources; less about providing answers and more about asking the right questions that assist you in learning how to value yourself and become the person you were always meant to be.
I work within the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and strictly abide by their Code of Ethics. I am fully insured and receive regular supervision from a highly qualified practitioner to ensure my clinical standards remain at a high level.
Rita was life changing…
“Rita was life changing. I had counselling before so I knew what to bring and what I didn’t want. She helped me understand the trouble I had was to do with my upbringing and through our 12 sessions together I learnt to let go of the past and look forward to a hopeful future.” – Anonymous
